Dear Friend of Sahar,
Thank you for being part of Sahar Education’s work! We recognize the challenges of this time and are grateful for your commitment to our mission.
We are excited to share that during April, the second session of the MPC program was conducted successfully at two schools. 37 participants graduated from our program into the next generation of Afghan men with a nuanced understanding of the importance of women’s rights, conflict resolution, and community engagement.
Mir Abdul Shabir, an MPC graduate, said, “Before joining the program, my family was insisting not to allow my sister in pre-university preparation in order to continue her higher education after school. But after I joined the program, I learned about human rights and how women’s rights are being considered now in Afghanistan. As her brother, I decided to support and help my sister to get what she is wishing for and convinced my family to let her join the academy.” He added, “Now, we go together in the Academy and prepare to be selected in our preferred university and favorite major.”
By helping boys rethink gender stereotypes and the role of girls and women in Afghan society, we are promoting a bright future for all Afghans.
On behalf of the whole Sahar team, thank you for your support. We could not accompany boys on their journeys to gender allyship without you.
Gratefully,
Malahat Mazaher
Executive Director
