Project is underway
By Mike Hildenbrand | Project Leader
Because of your generous support the project to complete a medical clinic and build a nurse's hut in rural Uganda is a reality. With your help we raised $7431.76. A team of eight leaves from Portland, Oregon on January 24 to work alongside the Ugandans to complete this project. We will be camping in the bush, a new experience for some of the team. January brings good construction weather, but it can be quite warm. Close to 100 each day. When we return in early February I will give you a full update complete with pictures. We could not do this without you. I will tell the Ugandans in the villages about the amazing team of people behind this project.
Thank you and hope this new year is the best ever

Gave an update report at Sunset this week
By Mike Hildenbrand | Project Leader
I had the opportunity last weekend to give a report at Sunset about our project to build this medical clinic and nurses hut. Received a very positive response. Several people talked to me afterward and said how inspiring this work is. I was very pleased. As you know we are taking a team to Uganda January 24 to help with the construction. One of the most powerful programs our teams participate in while in country is to help distribute pregnant goats to widows and orphans. This simple program allows the widow or orphan to raise goats and have a source of income.
We would like to be able to give goats away in January when we are there. If you are interested in learning about this aspect of our trip please go to our Serve Uganda page at Global Giving and check out the information on the goat project and consider if this is something you would be interested in contributing to.
I will be doing a full update on the medical project when we return.
Thanks for all of your support and encouragement. It is making a difference.

We Crossed the finish line team!
By Mike Hildenbrand | Project Leader
Dear Team,
I truly consider each and everyone who contributed to this amazing project part of our team. I hope some of you will consider going with us on one of our project trips to Uganda. We finished well. We had 55 donations totaling $7150. Our project ranks at 136 out of 24,845 projects. We should receive the funds by the end of October. GlobalGiving has also reduced their fee on all future giving to Serve Uganda to 8% effective October 1.
On January 24 a team will travel to Uganda to complete the physical aspects of this project which includes completing the medical clinic and building a nurses hut. As I told you earlier, as soon as this is completed the local government will place a nurse permanantly in the village.
We can now launch future projects with GlobalGiving at any time, in any amount and take as long as we need to raise the funds.
I have been very impressed with the GlobalGiving team and their processes. Very will organized, very professional. Their tools and training is excellent. I am so glad we are able to partner with them going forward.
I will update you when we return from Uganda.
Thanks again,
Mike
