It's been such a very rewarding time - our deepest and most sincere thanks go out to The Crossroads Church of Christ for their very generous gift of funds. Thanks to this and other gifts we will be starting to build the foundations of the school next week! There is still a long way to go in terms of total costs but we are extremely grateful for the kindness and generosity shown to us.
Our teachers and students are putting the final touches to the editing of a fifteen minute documentary about the need for access to clean water supplies to villages in Sierra Leone. This documentary was produced, written, scripted, filmed, directed and edited by our own students on equipment bought by The Marc Bolan School of Music and Film from funds raised by you! Every step of the way has been guided by our Directors and teachers and our friends at the charity Purple Field Productions (who specialise in the teaching of film production). There have been many lessons focusing on the details of film production, including thorough discussion, familiarisation with film-making technology, camera work, interviewing techniques, location selection and a sensitivity to our very helpful participants who gave their time to talk about their local and environmental needs.
Our students have loved this process and are most proud of their achievement - which is due to be shown on national TV in the near future. Our thoroughness and commitment to helping in the understanding of important causes in Sierra Leone now make our students excellent candidates for work in the TV and Film industries.- we are being noticed!
Ahead lies the completeion of the new school building, the architect's drawings of which are shown in our previous report, plus the continued growth of our teaching programmes in music and film. Our students have themseleves grown in confidence and a sense of purpose and faith in their own abilities and ambitions - please help us achieve our aims of developing the talents and inspring the minds of our wonderful students so that our school continues to grow as a cultural hub for Makeni and Sierra Leone. Our President and Director the Motown Singer-Songwriter Gloria Jones has never stopped giving her very best, her 100%, to realising this dream in one of the poorest countries in the world - which she has made her home in order to bring faith in life to our young people.
