Give 2000 Egyptian Families Affordable Health Care

As we welcome a new year full of hope and ambitious plans, we couldn't let the last hours of 2021 pass without celebrating with you our most impactful month yet.

Thanks to your heart-warming support and generosity, the outreach campaign we launched on December 12th has been keeping our team busy, blessed and bustling. In just 2 weeks, we have supported over 450 families in accessing their entitlements of insurance coverage, affordable healthcare and medical services their families needed: Breadwinning women, school children, retired workers and new-borns to name a few. 

In addition, our team has gone one step further in our quest to ensure Egyptians are accessing the healthcare services they are entitled to: Haneen, a 9 years old school girl suffering from a rare congenital blood vessels disease, is in need of an expensive interventional radiology procedure every month. Since the insurance coverage for school students refused to cover the full cost of this intervention, her family saw its savings dissipate a month after the other, till they had to sell their house furniture. After numerous attempts to support her in accessing the services she is entitled to, we decided to file a law suit on her behalf, not only to give her access to the medical care she needs, but also to pave the way for many other patients who are denied the services they are in dire need of.

As we await the final administrative court verdict for this case, we wanted to share with you this excerpt from the state commissioner's report, recommending the court to rule in favor of Haneen: 

"...it is established that any denial of the needed medical services to the plaintif constitutes a clear violation of constitutional and legal rights, specially as the medical condition of the patient cannot bear procedural or bureaucratic delays, which the authority seems to be taking a way to renounce from its obligations towards its constituents..."

We will keep you informed with the outcome of the case of Haneen which is expected to unveil in the upcoming months.
