This is an exciting quarter, in spite of our not getting much financial support. We continued to support our school from nursery to secondary. The children parents do not have the wherewithal to support the children in school. This has necessitated that we constantly had to augment teachers’ salary. Buy school materials from our private fund, maintain and fuel our school bus from our personal fund. We really need help to stay afloat.

In this quarter, we also engaged in skills training.

Folktales sessions.

Learning of traditional dance

Learning how to tie gele head gear.

Engaging in drama

Our aim is to help the students to understand what costume and make-up in drama are and help them see this area of learning as apotential income-generating source. In this case, we used costume and make-up to promote and dramatize different cultures. We also showed the students how makeup can be used to transform appearance. We showed the that learning costume and make can help them discover a potential career path in makeup artistry. The students can thus monetize makeup by offering makeup service for events, occasion, birthday shoots or photoshoots. They can also become professional makeup artists for film theater or television production. In future, these can also take courses or workshops in makeup artistry, practice their skills and build their portfolio of their work to become professional. Creating awareness of the possibilities in this field of study is just the main objective of this skill project.

Students also engaged in story telling. Righjt now we are conducting story telling sessions, hopping to selesct the best three story tellers at the end of June when we will have our parents, during which the students will hopefully regale their parents as well as family and friends with their prowess in story telling and their achievement in choral singing, drama and cultural dance.
