Working with creativity, perseverance and inspirat

Dear friends: We are pleased to tell you in this new report, the beautiful progress we are making in our work at Casa FPT.

In the previous report we had shared how the organization has updated its strategic plan to achieve more relevant action and greater impact in the community of south-west Bogotá. This is how we begin the work of the second half of 2024:

Human team training processes: After increasing capabilities in the diversification of allies and in the management of funds, as a team we advanced in the study of strategic actors that we already knew or that can be allies for the development of the programs. In addition, the number of proposals formulated through cooperation projects increased and two winning proposals were implemented this semester.

Living Classroom. Training processes around urban gardens: This was one of the winning projects mentioned above. It was a proposal aimed at the use of organic waste with the community neighboring the organization; the strengthening of urban gardens with other community experiences and with a public university in the territory: The Pedagogical University; the progress in research of a soil conditioner created in the organization from its vermiculture unit.

The Flavors that unite us: This was another winning proposal for the “Stímulos” scholarship that allowed us to carry out work between the migrant community from Venezuela and the host community of the Patio Bonito neighborhood. It focused on the exchange of knowledge around gastronomic training, strengthening knowledge of the culinary roots and traditions of each nation to turn it into a device for encounter and mutual recognition as actors that now coexist in the territory and who need to generate conditions of peaceful coexistence.

Strengthening networking: the ties created with public and private organizations have been strengthened and we have begun to carry out more sustained work with district entities that ensure the rights of children and adolescents. Under this alliance, training scenarios have been developed with children and adults and spaces have been opened for advice and guidance for families around the enforcement routes to guarantee rights and protection.

Cooking training process: Since August, the 16th group of cooks from the organization's cooking school has been in training. To date they have developed 80% of their entire training process, which is taught through theoretical and practical modules in the different branches of cooking. This group had the opportunity to participate in a pedagogical outing to the municipality of Santandercito, neighboring the city of Bogotá. The purpose was to increase interpersonal skills and contribute to a better outline of their life projects. These young people will receive their certification in February 2025.

In this new time we have learned a lot about our own practice and we continue to strengthen our capacities to contribute to the construction of life projects of the families that make up the community.

We work in alliance to achieve greater impact

Dear friends: in this period we have managed to expand our work with more allies. What we see is that if we manage to strengthen ties with public and/or private actors who also do work in the territory, we will be able to reach more people in the community. That is one of our purposes in this new time.

As we had shared with you, our work today is also very focused on impacting the lives of families because we know that a high percentage of them are led by women. We know that if we develop support work with them, the problems that children and young people face can have another type of coping. One that has a positive impact in the medium and long term because their grandmothers and mothers will have better tools to develop their own life projects.

In these three months some of the most relevant actions that we have developed are the following:

Welcome to the FPT community: This activity took place on March 16. Around 240 people in total participated. That was a space where we could share with children, young people and adults the new reorganization of the FPT. Didactically, the scenarios were marked by the circus, music, science, and literature. Through these devices, the community understood much more the characteristics of the 4 change processes that we are promoting.

Explorarte training process: In an alliance with a public entity we developed two artistic training scenarios: one in photography and the other in urban art. Around 30 people participated in this space, including children, young people and adults. The intergenerational dialogue unleashed creativity and strengthened everyone's sensitivity and plastic and audiovisual skills. This activity just closed on June 30 with an exhibition where participants were able to share their works with their families.

Training processes for the FPT human team: With a view to increasing the pedagogical and political capabilities of the team that makes up the institution, as well as developing skills to collectively manage economic funds for the implementation of the programs, we have carried out a process with external consultants to training people on different fronts and we continue to move forward. For now we have managed to complete two very specific projects for the development of actions with the migrant population to be carried out within four months.

Cooking training process: From January to June 30, 25 young people between 16 and 28 years of age received training through 10 training modules on topics related to cooking and barista. In August they will be receiving their certification. In their training, they also managed to participate in a pedagogical outing to a municipality near the city of Bogotá to learn more about a clean cultivation experience with a community of neo-farmers.

We advance our processes with the aim of continuing to build new realities.

In 2024 we follow the path of change in the FPT

Dear friends:

Once again thank you for taking the time to read our report. This 2024 began with many changes and we want to share them with you who have joined us unconditionally.

Well, since last year we have been developing planning work for the next 5 years of the organization. We have proposed our Strategic Plan 2024 to 2028. This made us do an analytical reading of the last five years of the organization to collect learnings and know how we are responding today to the challenges that our current context demands of us.

In this report we want to share with you in particular some of the elements that have emerged in this exercise because this year we have dedicated ourselves above all to creating the strategies and means to make our work viable.

Part of the elements are our new mission, our vision, the principles that mobilize our action and the four change processes to be carried out; each one corresponds to a strategic area. From now on we not only accompany the lives of the children and young people of the territory; Now we also want to accompany women and our migrant brothers who come to seek better life horizons.

Mission

We are a community organization that accompanies the life projects of girls, boys, adolescents, young people and families in vulnerable situations, by promoting their role so that they build new realities.

Vision

To be a conceptual and methodological reference in the model of accompaniment to life projects to dignify and co-construct new realities with girls, boys, adolescents, young people and families from vulnerable sectors.

Beginning. A beginning is what is at the beginning of something. The PT Foundation also has elements that inaugurate and accompany each task, process or decision:

1. Spirituality as a manifestation of the transcendent potential of each being that invites consciousness, strengthens us and unites us.

2. Love as the axis of a policy of care that is inaugurated in one's own affection and unfolds in the links that are woven with everything that surrounds us through altruism.

3. Dignity as the recognition of the sacredness that life carries in all its expressions and that deserves appreciation, value and respect.

Change processes. From the Theory of Change approach, the PT Foundation established the change processes that it hopes to achieve in the next five years, namely:

Change Process 1- Promotion and full exercise of rights: Boys, girls, adolescents, young people, families and the migrant population work for the promotion and full exercise of their rights, through access to comprehensive care programs, enforceability processes of fundamental rights and inter-institutional dialogue.

Change Process 2 - Cohesion and social fabric: Boys, girls, adolescents, young people, families and the migrant population in the exercise of their citizenship are united through the strengthening of their family and community ties.

Change Process 3 - Deliberative democracy: Boys, girls, adolescents, young people, families and the migrant population are recognized as protagonists of change through the strengthening of their capacities for advocacy, the promotion of their citizen participation and economic empowerment.

Change Process 4 - Strategic, institutional strengthening: The PT Foundation is recognized as a replicable model of community action and life support and maintains sustainable administrative management.

We hope to soon share with you how we are advancing in the work of contributing to the affection, food and education of all these human groups and motivate you to reactivate your contribution and support for this cause.
