Covid 19 had shaken our peaceful lives! Everyone is experiencing different levels of fears and anxieties, and our Gawad Pangarap Scholars and families are no different!
Everyone worries about themselves, their families, and friends getting ill with COVID-19. We at Gawad Pangarap leadership has been reaching out to them to help them understand and to make sense if what they hear in a way is honest, accurate, and what actions to take so to minimize their fears and anxiety.
As part of COVID 19 Awareness Initiative, we have asked Scholars to participate in “Our Message to the World” "Stay Home" poster making and “Wear Mask” photo shoot. We also have encouraged parents to make Cloth Masks just to inculcate in their minds that wearing masks is a simple way of minimizing transmission of the virus.
Through Internet and social media (Facebook), we will continue to reach out to these children and their families, and teach them actions to reduce the spread of germs. Reminding children to wash their hands frequently and stay away from people who are coughing or sneezing or sick. Also, reminding them to cough or sneeze into a tissue or their elbow, then throw the tissue into the trash - reassuring them and their families that they can do simple things that can keep them safe.
Truly, Covid 19 had changed many things in the way we deal and see things. Unfortunate for the Foundation to not able to add additional Scholars to the Scholarship Program this School Year 2020. We will shift our focus to helping and providing school supplies to other families that were displaced financially with Covid 19 while continually supporting the already Scholars of Gawad Pangarap Foundation.
