Lilipad Friends,
We hope you are all doing well and keeping healthy. Our quarterly report is here, with many exciting developments.
First and foremost, we are very excited to announce that on November 6th, we officially opened our 7th Lilipad library. This is our 3rd library in our home city of Berlin and we're extremely proud. The Marzhan multilingual library found its home in the Gemeinschaftsunterkunft (GU) Murtzaner Ring, a collective accommodation managed by our partner the foundation Stephanus-Stiftung. This GU is home to almost 200 children so this library has the potential to become our biggest yet.
Moreover, we were able to run 3 educational workshops at our Berlin-Britz location. The outcome was incredible, with around 50 children showing up to each event. The 3rd event involved a workshop where the children produced self-portraits with the supervision of a talented local artist.
Since the beginning of August we have had a new librarian, Samira, on-site at the Centre de Sauvegarde de L’Enfance in Moroccan. We are happy to share that thanks to her daily support and involvement, the library has been flourishing with regular events and workshops taking place. The groups are kept small, to ensure that we keep up with ongoing developments regarding COVID-19.
Finally, as we all know the year has been difficult in terms of lockdowns and regulations. However, our library at the Tukolaganhe Foundation in Uganda remained open. We are happy to share that we welcomed 380+ children to the lilbrary. They were received Homeschooling support from Lilipad's librarian, Winny, and the local team. The computers and WiFi Internet access that were donated earlier this year have finally arrived and are now being used by the visitors of the library as a learning and self-development tool.
The quarter has been very productive and we are very happy with what we have achieved during a difficult time. Of course, none of this is possible without the help of our friends, followers, and the Lilipad family.
