Friends,
Hope you are all doing good!
Lilipad's quarterly update is here:
Following the February launch of our latest project in Berlin (GU Britz) the team has been busy maintaining and servicing all Lilipad projects in Germany, Morocco, and Uganda. This includes the regular multilingual books and study materials supply, strengthening our relationship with the local champions and dedicated personnel, and last but not least, we have been working hard on finding ways to build long-lasting positive impact by testing a few promising ideas such as involving CYP (children and young people) participants in our decision-making process. We have a few other exciting ideas which we will gladly share with our next update.
Let's share more country-specific details:
Germany
- We are happy to share that after a year and a half break we are restarting our workshops (reading events, art workshops, etc) in all Berlin locations. What's even more exciting is that we are a step closer to launch Project 7 in Marzahn, Berlin. Eleonora, the newest addition to the team, is clarifying all the details around the launch, as we speak. We are hoping to be able to share the good news at the beginning of September with our next quarterly update.
Morocco
- After endless interviews, we finally found a librarian who is going to start working in one of the locations on 1st August. Moreover, we refreshed the libraries by reorganizing the current books inventory and supplied them with new ones. Last but not least, we are confident that we have found a motivated and trustworthy location champion (Director Moga) who will accommodate our activities in Morocco.
Uganda
- With only 24% Internet penetration in 2020 we understood from our local champion Moses how important the use of the Internet as self-improvement and educational tool is, especially during the strict lockdowns that the country experienced during the last 1.5 years. In the last quarterly update, we shared with you our Digitalisation idea, which is already in the making. A few months ago we tried to ship computers purchased in Germany, however, due to legal restrictions at the border they could not be delivered. Therefore, we are going to supply them with devices, WiFi access, and printers bought locally.
All in all, we are very happy with what we have done so far, however, none of this was going to be possible without the help of our friends, followers, and the Lilipad family.
Once again, THANK YOU!
How can you support Lilipad’s community and its activities even further?
There are a few ways to do so:
- Reach out if you have any ideas or you would like to volunteer at Lilipad - currently, we are looking for Project Manager (Germany and Morocco) and Events & Community Manager
- Share our project on your social media channels once again
- Single donation on Lilipad’s GlobalGiving Project page
- Set-up a monthly donation on Lilipad’s GlobalGiving page
- Let us know if the company you work for or know of any that are willing to make a corporate/gift donation
Yours,
The Lilipad Team
