Employability in Ecuador has great challenges, the gaps between supply and demand in the labor market are very wide. Seventy percent of employers in the country state that young people lack adequate skills (both hard and soft) to meet the needs of organizations in an increasingly demanding and competitive market.
That is why, with our vocational guidance program and professional training schools, we are opening a path of possibilities for young people from vulnerable neighborhoods such as Pisulí and La Roldós who have had everything against them.
We want to tell you that 70% of our Gastronomy, Mechanics and ICT graduates in June 2023 have achieved a better job and professional perspective: 47% got a job and 23% have continued training in other higher education.
In addition, with the support of AEADE (Association of Automotive Companies of Ecuador) and Toyota, another 10 young people obtained their Diploma in Basic Mechanics and Workshop Management in January, and we received the welcome news that the Instituto Tecnoecuatoriano will provide a 50% scholarship to all young people who wish to continue their studies.
Days after Ecuador declared "internal armed conflict" and in a climate of social uncertainty (as some of the criminal gangs are present in this sector), these young people celebrated their graduation with their main promoters and their closest family members:
"We have learned to work as a team, to face challenges with resilience and to manage time more efficiently, these are essential skills not only for our professional success, but also for our personal growth. We live in stigmatized areas, but we are offered the chance to change this stigma. Every engine repaired and every vehicle received is one less young person on the streets and with more opportunity to get ahead" (Luis, best graduate with academic excellence certification).
For this month, we have already started the pre-selection stage with 40 young people who want to explore this path towards new possibilities. And we are building this path together with you, thank you for your contribution!
