Dear Generous Donors,

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support of the project titled Help Life-saving Support to Displaced People in Ethiopia (54862). Your generosity has played a crucial role in providing life-saving assistance to displaced communities in Ethiopia, helping us to meet critical needs for food, water, sanitation, and hygiene.

In this reporting period, your donations have directly supported efforts to provide emergency food, healthcare, water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), and other vital services to displaced populations. The impact has been particularly profound for women and children, who continue to bear the brunt of the ongoing crisis. Your support has enabled us to address immediate survival needs while helping to prevent long-term harm caused by malnutrition, disease, and lack of access to basic healthcare.
Here’s a breakdown of the key areas where your support has made a significant difference:

  1. Food Aid and Nutrition:
    • We provided essential food assistance to combat starvation and malnutrition, with special focus on children and pregnant or lactating women. Your contributions helped ensure that vulnerable populations received nutritious meals during this critical time.
  2. Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH):
    • Thanks to your donations, displaced communities gained access to safe water and improved sanitation facilities, significantly reducing the risk of disease outbreaks. This is vital for the health and safety of the affected population, especially during the ongoing crisis.
  3. Healthcare:
    • Medical services were extended, including emergency treatments, vaccinations, and maternal healthcare. The donation also helped provide essential medical kits to frontline healthcare providers working in the field.
  4. Cash Assistance:
    • Cash support was provided to affected communities in Southern Ethiopia, empowering families to meet their immediate needs and make decisions about how best to support their households.

Above all with the recent funding from GlobalGiving, we have been able to significantly expand our services and reach. The generous financial support has allowed us to operate in more regions, addressing the diverse needs of displaced communities in Southern, Western, and Central Ethiopia. Your donations also helped us shelter more mothers and children in three of MHO’s rehabilitation centers, located in Addis Ababa, Amhara, and Ambo.

In these centers, we’ve been able to:

  • Provide nutritious food, such as biscuits and fortified snacks.
  • Supply medical kits and provide necessary health services.
  • Ensure that children have access to school supplies like exercise books, pens, and pencils.
  • Offer psychological support to mothers and children, helping them cope with the trauma and challenges they face in displacement.

As we continue our work, your continued support will be essential in helping us meet the ongoing needs of displaced populations. The road ahead is long, but with your generosity, we are confident that we can continue to provide the essential services these communities so urgently require.

Once again, we extend our deepest gratitude for your commitment to this important cause. Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable people in Ethiopia.

With sincere thanks,
MHO Team
