Children in Conflict-Affected Areas of Ethiopia Want To Get Back To School
War in the Northern part of Ethiopia and conflicts in Oromia and Benishangul Regions have impacted civilians and residents in terms of massive internal displacements, loss of life and livelihood as well as the destruction of public and private properties, among others. To avert this humanitarian catastrophe and to respond to critical and urgent humanitarian needs of displaced people, with your kind monetary support, currently, MHO provided holistic services and sheltered 130 mothers and 250 who fled to Addis Ababa from different parts of the countries for survival and due to security fear. Apart from this last week MHO decided and visited IDP Sites in Debrebrhan Town, North Shoa, Ethiopia to reach out to displaced Childers impacted by conflict and to provide basic services with Your recent money donation through GlobalGiving Unfortunately we witnessed the situation differently War and conflict Ethiopia war not only resulted in huge human cost bust also have impacted civilians and residents in terms of widespread destruction of livelihoods, and damage to agricultural productivity, property assets We witnessed those not lack sheltering at IDPs Camp, were sheltered in public spaces, including schools and meeting halls,. while others have set up temporary make-shift shelters, and others are out in the open. For nearly 2 decades the Meseret Humanitarian Organization (MHO) Humanitarian and community-based support to vulnerable people in Ethiopia, the organization never experienced such looming Humanitarian crises and catastrophes in Ethiopia. Particularly we observed that the most impacted segment of the society affected by this conflict was girls and children.
It’s a parent’s dream to be able to provide for their child; to raise them healthy and happy with all the opportunities in the world ahead of them. As a parent when your child is aged for early childhood education, you don’t forget sending four children to school and you don’t expect and even think your child grow without education. However, for the children of Ethiopia, this was impeded by the devastating impact of war and conflict. Many children are out of schools due to the Destruction and looting of educational institutions and school closures,
Changing all this needs intensified effort and support of thoughtful and generous donations to get children back to school in conflict-affected areas
Your recent money donation not only helped children who need it the most but also create hope helped them to realize that there are still good people in the world who are trying to help other people by supporting them to overcome challenges that enable them to return to their school soon
The donations have helped MHO to much in this critical time to purchase and provided nutritious biscuits, candy, medical kits, exercise books, pens, pencils, and coloring pencils as well as to provided psychological support for displaced children who have been suffering from psychological trauma and lack of other basic needs.
We'll keep you updated as this project progresses.
Now we returned to Addis Ababa start to provide holistic services to 130 impoverished mothers and 250 children presently sheltered in two MHO 2 Rehabilitation centers in Addis Ababa until they return back to their normal l life and reunify with their families and communities
