This project will help pay for a safe house that will house about 50+ lgbtqai+ individuals below 35 years of age. With the harsh conditions that LGBTQAI+ individuals face in Zimbabwe, it has come to light after the rise of the Covid pandemic that these individuals are highly affected as they survive on a hand to mouth wage and with covid lockdown there is now hunger, depression and the rise of suicide cases, already the lgbtqai+ is a thinning margin, we need a hand in making life worthy for them.
Covid-19 crisis has led to the vulnerability and exposure of the minority groups that include but not limited to LBT women and young girls. Most LGBTIQ members are already wallowing in poverty, this pandemic has come at a worse time because being forced indoors for that long will bring further depression and do not have stable incomes as they depend on their entrepreneur skills for daily income that will give them financial freedom and the abilility to have food and shelter to their families.
Provide a safe house to reduce the issues of rejection and depression. The safe house will also work as quarantine managed by a nurse from the community. We will provide the members with clean water, food, sanitation, and conditions that are essential in protecting human health during and after the COVID19 outbreak. Most of our community members are living in unsafe places of relatives and family especially the transgender people where they are forced to conform to the set ups of those homes.
This project will help and educate 200 lgbtqai+ individuals (Entrepreneur skills will be taught) allowing them to leap above poverty and dependency on sex work and other harsh and inhuman ways to earn money. To help flatten the curve of the COVID19 through clean water provision and hygiene packs. To provide our members with internet data to continually be informed on the developments and measures that is being taken by the government. We are creating community leaders who are not dependent.
