Preparing for Awakening Leadership Training

Pa Teung Ngam - site for Ecology Dimension

The past 3 months have been a period of planning and coordination to prepare for the upcoming 5-month Awakening Leadership Training. We have achieved a number of milestones in this time period:

Brochure and advertising materials developed and printed
Regular updating on social media and e-newsletters
Over 9,000 followers on our facebook page!
Outreach to partner organisations in the region for selecting and sending participants
Representation at the annual Earth Trusteeship Forum in Bangkok
Supporting potential participants with self-fundraising efforts
Planning for a 3 day alumni-gathering prior to the start of the Training
Adversting through Gaia Education and Global Ecovillage Network
16 short videos of various learning workshops, now available on our youtube channel
Certification proces with Gaia Education completed
Masters program up and running with 2 students for the pilot first phase.

We are still confirming particpants, especially for the first dimension of learning. The complete program revolves around 5 integrated dimensions of learning:

Worldview, Self Discovery and Healing (4 Sept – 1 Oct)
Interpersonal Dynamics, Power Sharing and Compassion (7 Oct – 29 Oct)
Eco-political Economy – From Global to Local (4 Nov – 27 Nov)
Ecology and Ecovillage Design (3 Dec – 30 Dec)
Skills for Social Transformation (5 Jan – 3 Feb)

This year our ecological dimension will be taking place at the community of Pa Teung Ngam, near Chiang Dao in Northern Thailand. Surrounded by protected community forest, the village is indigenous Karen, who maintain deep cultural, spiritual and livelihood connections to the natural world. Participants will be home-staying with families within the village, and learning from the community as practitioners of ecological knowledge, skills and wisdom.

Overall, we have developed and designed an indepth learning journey, designed to support people committed to social change to:
HEART - Deepen self awareness and compassion to stay balanced to cope with the uncertainties of the present world situation
HEAD - Broaden perspectives on social and environmental issues
HANDS - Develop practical skills and meta-skills
SPIRIT - Cultivate Right Mindfulness as the key factor for awakening
