In February 2025, a significant chapter that took 16 years in the history of Hogar de Cristo in Osorno closed: the construction of a modern building measuring more than 1,200 square meters, meeting all quality and functionality standards, to house the city's new guesthouse. It will also house the foundation's main office, as well as the teams for other successful outpatient social programs, such as Vivienda Primero and Home Care for Seniors.
"I remember the enormous number of Osorno residents who have collaborated since its founding. First, they mobilized to help those living in the doorways of a church, pooling their donations. And, in a small house that wasn't designed to be a guesthouse, this shelter began to operate to welcome homeless people," notes Yerko, a social worker at Hogar de Cristo, with emotion.
“Now we'll be working in a space with top-notch infrastructure, with light-filled spaces that revitalize and generate a special energy in both workers and users. We worked for many years in a space that wasn't built for our purpose. It was an old house that was patched up and expanded little by little. A few bucks arrived, and a few boards and panels were put up.”
When we work together, we can achieve great things, supporting those most in need. Thank you for collaborating with people who are homeless!
