Heiko Maas "visiting" Learning Lions
Heiko Maas "visiting" Learning Lions

Dear friends and supporters ,

the year is already three months old, and we are looking forward to give you an update on what is happening these days. There is a lot to tell, but see for yourself:

HELP WANTED

We are currently looking for support in our communication team. As our sister organization Digital Lions is progressing with its Fair Trade certification, we are in need for a PR/campaign manager to do a campaign around the topic “Fair Trade goes Digital”. For more details check this out or contact us via Email.

VIRTUAL TOUR OF OUR NEW ICT CAMPUS WITH HEIKO MAAS

It was a privilege to guide Heiko Maas, the German Foreign Minister, on a virtual tour around our new ICT campus during his meeting with Kenya Foreign Minister Awour Omamo (see Twitter post of Auswärtiges Amt). During the tour the Minister was  interacting with our students and asked questions about our program. We are very honored to be recognized by the German government and hope to one day welcome the Minister in person on our Campus.

A LITTLE TOUR OF OUR NEW ICT CAMPUS ON FACEBOOK

Rikard and Bonface give a little tour of the new and modern ICT campus on the shores of Lake Turkana online. Rikard is one of our great volunteers who mentors lions on web development and Bonface is our Lead System Administrator, taking a great care of Learning Lions equipment and systems. They explain a little of the amazing project by KÉRÉARCHITECTURE that is optimally tailored to the needs of an ICT campus in the semi-desert of Turkana: Innovative construction methods (windows, ventilation, second roof) are to create perfect working conditions. The building includes classrooms, co-working place and accommodations for the Lions. You can see the full video of the campus tour on our Facebook page:

I hope you enjoyed this small update from Lodwar and you will stay connected with us on FacebookTwitter and Instagram .

Kwaheri,
Stefanie
