Dear friends and supporters,
"Krismasi Njema" - this is the Swahili phrase for "Merry Christmas". With this newsletter we are sending warm Christmas wishes to you and your family and of course also a happy new year. Even though it is still the time of the pandemic there is still a lot happening at Learning Lions. But see for yourself:
LIMITED POSTCARD SERIES TO COLLECT DONATIONS
Matthias, one of our graphic design volunteers, had a great idea to support Learning Lions and designed a limited post card series called "Places & People" that can be used as Christmas card or just as a normal postcard to send warm wishes to friends and family. The set includes five motifs in DINA5 format, and all proceeds will be donated to Learning Lions at the end of the year. Donation should be at least 18€ (incl. postage within Germany, for Europe please donate a little more please). Pictures of the cards are attached to this mail. They can be ordered here: https://www.sonsofipanema.de/placesandpeople
NEW COHORT STARTING AT THE BEGINNING OF NEXT YEAR
In January we are excited to start a new cohort. Currently we are having many interviews will all the interested, motivated, and talented young adults that applied to become a Learning Lion. They are looking forward to becoming a member of our community and to learn the necessary skills to become a graphic-, 3D- or web designer and have a better future by being able to earn their living with the new learned skills.
NEW ICT CAMPUS AT LAKE TURKANA
As we already mentioned on our last reports, we are building a new campus for more than 500 students near the Lake Turkana. And we are making huge progress! Last week the first Lions moved into their new homes and started living and working at the campus. We attached some pictures for you, so you can see what it lookes like.
Interested in volunteering and making a change? You can become part of Learning Lions by helping on site as a volunteer as well as remote and of course by supporting us with a donation. For more information have a look at our website.
I hope you enjoyed this small update and you will stay connected with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram .
Kwaheri,
Stefanie
