New Year. New Hope

By Gloria Mbabazi | Project Lead

Trial month ended.Yaay!

Happy New Year!

Are you excited for 2025 or tiptoeing cautiously?

Over here, we are really optimistic so if you need it, we are sending loads of hope and encouragement your way.

Do we tire of telling you what absolute superstars you are? Nope.

Do you deserve all of the goodness? Yup.

Let’s get into it before we end up breaking into song.

Since our last report, the ARC has continued to thrive as a hub of learning and community engagement.

The library has grown into an indispensable resource, with partner schools borrowing books for classroom use and children frequently visiting to explore different worlds in the stories, learn new vocabulary, and participate in interactive reading activities.

Our literacy programs have also incorporated these materials to enhance creativity and critical thinking skills. The ICT lab continues to expand young minds by introducing learners to the vast possibilities within the world of technology. It remains a cornerstone of our efforts to prepare children and youth for a digital future.

In January, we hosted a 3-day refresher training in phonics, for our teachers. It brought together teachers from 2 schools. It has been a year since the initial training and we are proud to continue strengthening the foundation of literacy in the community.

Additionally, as part of the holiday program, 30 teenagers participated in interactive learning, creative arts and mentorship; with activities aimed at building their skills and confidence.

This year, we are also excited to focus on expanding community outreach, providing additional professional development, and implementing a new initiative to  teach out-of-school children in our community.

Annnnnddd, wait for it, mobile libraries!! This has been a dream of ours because we want to reach children, both near and far. We are looking forward to implementing this extension of the resource centre.

We remain deeply grateful to you for continuing to see us, support us and invest in us. Because of you, we are transforming lives and empowering communities.

We look forward to even greater milestones together.

Have an amazing 2025!
