2025 has already been a busy year for us. In January, we were invited to take part in a global TEDx event that brought together 14 leading women filmmakers, activists, nonprofit leaders, and conservationists whose stories share vital ideas on ways to reframe the relationship between people and the planet. Many of the speakers are women from around the world highlighted in For the Good board member Rebecca Kormos' recent book, Intertwined: Women, Nature and Climate Justice. Collectively, their inspiring work offers hope for our – and our planet's – future, as well as visions for a more just and equitable world.
In Kenya, we will soon be breaking ground on the first classroom for a new day secondary school in the remote community of Olpalagilagi in southern Naikarra County. Thanks to a generous grant from Together Women Rise, we'll also be able to significantly expand our Team Angaza interns across Naikarra in 2025, ensuring they can help enroll out-of-school children into primary schools across this entire remote region. Over in Loita, the village of Entasekera will also begin pouring the foundation for the first classroom of a new day secondary this month. This school has the potential to make a major impact on countless young lives, as Entasekera is a key central village where a new school will create new opportunities for affordable secondary education for many hundreds of students. We'll also be deepening our community facilitation work on the land ownership changes in the Loita Hills, helping ensure that the Loita Maasai can protect their cultural and community forest lands and determine their own vision for their futures, with women helping lead the way.
Every smile of a newly minted graduate or a young child newly enrolled brings us joy and hope for the future. And your caring is the spark that fuels every life trajectory that is changed through our work to increase girls' access to education. We are deeply thankful for the lives your caring helped change last year - and thankful for the many lives your caring and support can continue to change in the months and years to come. On their behalf, our deepest gratitude.
