Girl Child Art Foundation is excited to share our progress with our new sets of girls in our community who joined our program in the past 6months. Fifteen of our girls recently have shown growth and dedication to improving their skills, using their time positively while also inspiring other girls to join in our girl mentorship program through dance, drama, and music.

Seven of these girls amongst the 42 girls who joined in October 2021 have dedicated their 3hrs five times a week to our free classes on performing arts classes and other programs offered at our centre around the Bamako area of Ikeja, Lagos.
Five of these girls affirmed that our theatre activities had saved them from being violated by sexual predators within the community and sometimes at home. We are proud of the girls.
Through the help of our instructors, mentors, supporters and board, our goal is to engage young women and girls with a platform to be inspired, grow, and equipped to strive favourably in today’s world through creative activities. Their growth has also proven that our actions and program at our safe space have helped them contribute actively to global issues, develop their leadership skills, build confidence, and inspire girl-led enterprises.

According to Islamitah, “GCAF gave me the boldness to express myself in various ways, especially on stage. I appreciate the organization, so I am committed to using my time here well. I can do more with talents I did not know I had”.

So many girls and young women struggle with issues of roles and expectations, self-confidence, low self-esteem, and understanding of the role they can play in leadership and how to communicate effectively. We see these lacking in 95% of the new girls. But after 3 or 4 sessions with the GCAF team and participating in our programs, the girls begin to express themselves freely, critically look at issues around their development, become confident and continue to develop themselves actively.
We are confident that these girls have discovered their superpowers and are developing their talents through our creative platform.

On this, we appreciate your support, financial contributions and advisory support. Our activities and supplies are provided for these girls at no cost. Your donations make it possible to pay the salaries of our various instructors. These would have been possible without your efforts. Thank you for making these services available for girls who cannot afford these classes. THANK YOU!
