Storm is a 7-year-old Pit Bull who was diagnosed with pyometra when she fell sick in February. Her owners were given an $8,000 estimate, which they could not afford. They drove for hours to have us care for her as a winter storm was barreling toward the Northeast. We got her in and out before the snow hit. The owner was so happy he didn't have to stay in a hotel to brave the storm. He reports that she is doing great and is already back to her old self, and thanked us from the bottom of his heart for taking the time to help save his baby.
We went from a shelter to veterinary hospitals because we realized that we could never build shelters big enought to hold all the animals in need. If we could help with veterinary care, we could keep them in the homes they were already in which were loving homes but they just needed access to veterinary care.
Last year, our four hospitals cared for over 26,000 pets, including life-saving vaccine clinics and our Homebound to the Rescue program, which brings basic veterinary services to low-income senior housing communities at no cost. An additional 7,800 pets received low-cost spay and neuter services. Our Pet Food Pantry program fed over 12,000 pets to ensure that no pet went hungry.
Combined with our adoption services and community outreach, we helped over 49,000 live better lives in 2023 thanks to the support of caring and compassionate animal lovers like you. Your gift saves lives and keeps families together.
