Saving Lives and Keeping Families Together

By Diane Tillotson | Marketing Director

When a pet gets sick or injured, it can be devastating for a pet owner facing financial struggles. Second Chance is one of the few veterinary hospitals in Massachusetts that offers subsidized rates for critical care, offering hope for these pets

Over the past year, more pets relied on discounted rates than ever before at our Community Veterinary Hospitals.  As we look to the new year, the need is great for these pets with nowhere else to turn.  Your support helps us be there for all the pets who are facing surrender of euthanasia for a treatable condition.

The pandemic disrupted a lot of things including visits to the vet.  Second Chance resumed in-hospital vaccine clinics early in the pandemic and prioritized resuming community vaccine clinics as soon as cities and towns would allow because the risk was growing every day.

Second Chance responded quickly to the sudden rise in Parvo cases in Springfield, setting up free vaccine clinics to stop the spread of the deadly disease.

This year, we were in the midst of a full schedule of local vaccine clinics when news broke of several parvo cases confirmed in one Springfield neighborhood. We responded immediately with an emergency clinic to examine and vaccinate dogs at risk onsite.  Several free vaccine clinics were set up in Springfield to irradicate the threat.

We also hosted a free vaccine clinic in Fitchburg this fall to help mitigate the risk of an outbreak in that community.

We are so grateful for your support to help keep pets in their homes with the people they love.
