Funding has been raised for five villages including Ouzala. The other villages are Kogdasali, Modega, Zouri and Zouma. Work has still to start as the budgets submitted from the two local NGOs did not correspond. Thus a meeting has taken place 7th January to ensure the budgets are correct. We hope work will still commence by the end of January.
Apart from the wells and latrines which will provide the building blocks for the community to work their way out of poverty and reduce water bourne diseases such as cholera and diarrhea we are working on health and hygiene programmes, reducing the impact of climate change through better water management and agro forestry methods. We are also implementing a water and sanitation programme where people will be trained in maintaining and repairing wells and latrines along with gaining the skills to build their own compost latrines.
