After violin lessons twice a week for 40 minutes during music class for 2 years, kindergarten and first grade, one of the first grade classes made their first non-school public apperance at the end of April. The students and their teacher performed Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, first pizzicato, then with their bows, before 50 members of the Newberg (Oregon) noon Rotary. They got a standing ovation and a number of the members said they were teary-eyed at watching the children concentrating so intensely on playing their tiny violins.
It was a wonderful day and the parents who came to watch their children were especially proud. It was so gratifying to see the children confidently display how much they had learned. We know this will be the first of many performances for the community.
