Access to justice is a right, not a privilege. At A.Ss.I.S.T., we are here for asylum seekers and refugees in Greece, offering free information services and legal assistance. Your contribution supports vulnerable people to overcome challenges and regain hope. Join us in making a life-changing difference.
We address systemic barriers faced by asylum seekers and refugees in Greece, including lack of legal assistance, inadequate interpretation, and bureaucratic inefficiencies that risk wrongful rejections. Recent suspension of cash aid leaves many unable to meet basic needs, enduring inhumane camp conditions. Our work ensures access to justice and to welfare services. We try to fill critical gaps as non-profits close due to funding shortages, safeguarding dignity and rights for the vulnerable.
We provide free information and expert legal assistance to asylum seekers, ensuring access to justice by preparing them for interviews, appeals, and addressing wrongful rejections. Our interpreters' services are available in 11+ languages. We refer clients to social and welfare services for their overall welfare. Amid funding shortages, we sustain critical support, amplify refugees' voices, and work to uphold their rights and dignity in a failing system.
Our services contribute to lasting improvements in asylum outcomes, supporting many deserving people to secure protection and build stable futures and to protect the human rights of those whose applications fail. By addressing systemic barriers and advocating for fairer legal processes, we hope to influence systemic reform. Sustained access to legal aid restores dignity and stability for individuals while fostering broader social inclusion and justice for refugees over time.
