Dear GlobalGiving Family,
Germinating Every Mind Liberia (GEM Liberia) and the Jennifer Albee Enrichment School extend their profound gratitude to GlobalGiving and all of their donors for their continued support to the girls of Liberia. GEM- Liberia is please to forward its quarterly report. This periodic report is part of the Germinating Every Mind-Liberia's commitment to GlobalGiving and donors.
The period's report covers from June 17, 2022 to October 12 2022. We are thrilled to inform you about new developments since our last report in June.
Elevation of Level- We are proud to announce the elevation of the school to grade 8 level based on our previous successful honing of our girls, preparing them for the West Africa Regional Test for primary and middle school kids. We are confident that our girls are ready to sit their first West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
2022/ 2023 Academic year resumes-- On October 3, 2022, the school commenced classes for the academic year 2022/2023. Our board member Mr. Nathaniel Jah is volunteering at the school as our 6th to 8thgraders mathematics instructor.
Huge Mile stones-
First Graduation Program Held! The school held its first graduation exercise on July 31, 2022, graduating 11kindergarten students and 3six graders, a total of 14students.. All of those graduated were completing their respective levels and returned to commence their next levels at the school.
Construction of a new Kindergarten annex- We constructed our new kindergarten annex to allow more space for more enrolment intake in the school. The new annex takes up to 70 children ranging from nursery to kindergarten. This achievement also provides more room for additional students in the elementary and junior. In addition to the annex, the entire school compound has been closed up to avoid intruders during school hours and ensure that our students are always safe.
Flour Processing Machine-GEM Liberia secured additional funding from the United States Embassy near Monrovia for the school's farm to purchase a manual flour production machine. This equipment purchase supports the school's nutrition plan, a plan to provide a meal to the kids while at school because most of them go to school without lunch and having a breakfast.
Once again, a big thanks to GlobalGiving and our many donors for their support in helping us achieve our dream of having a quality education for girls in Liberia.
THANK YOU!
