Story of Chawanna
Chawanna lives in Lapala Village of Tijara Block, Alwar Rajasthan with her husband, three sons and other family members. Chawanna had lost one child earlier. When she got pregnant for the 4th time, community health worker visited her house & motivated her for ANC check ups at a health camp organized by Sukarya. Initially she ignored their advice and did not attend the camp. Sukarya field team visited her house again, met her family members and explained to them about the importance of ANC checkups. At last, her family members agreed for Chawnna going for antenatal checkups.
During her first visit to the Sukarya health camp in February 2018, Chawanna's Hb level was 9.6 (Moderate Anemic) but after attending all successive health camps and taking Iron Folic Acid supplements significant improvement was reported in her last trimester (her Hb level was found at 11 g/dl, normal for pregnant lady). Parallel efforts were also made to convince Chawanna and her family members to opt for institutional delivery as all her earlier deliveries were done at home. The Sukarya team ensured that Chawanna goes to hospital for a safe delivery in order to avoid any possible risks and complications.
She gave birth to a healthy baby and her entire family was excited since this was the first baby girl Chawanna was blessed with.
