Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for your support to finance the rehabilitation of 7 burned children in Peru. One of the children you are supporting is Cesia, who is going to tell her story herself (we translated it in English for you though):
Hola, my name Cesia and I am 8 years old. Over 2 years ago my three sisters and I were sleeping at home and suddenly there was a big fire. My mom told me that a candle fell down which started the fire. She just had gone outside to clean our clothes and when she came back it was already too late: everything was on fire. A lot of the parts of my body were burned and it hurt really really much. But that was a long time ago; know I am feeling a lot better. After the fire everything changed. We had to move to my uncle's place in Lima to go to ANIQUEM. I really enjoy being here, we can play in the garden and after every time my skin feels better. But I would like to go back to my home Chiclayo, so when I am old enough I can study medicine there and help many people.
Cesia and her three sisters are receiving the treatments needed for an integral rehabilitation in ANIQUEM, which means physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychological treatment and the reinsertion into the society. The treatment takes on average 3 years but as Cesia and her sisters are severely burned, it can take several years longer. Especially the psychological treatment is very important, as we are able to cure the external scars but curing the internal scars is a lot more difficult. Cesia and her sisters are a great example of our work: They are not ashamed of showing their scars in public and they are doing the necessary treatments at home so that their scars already look much better. Of course their skin will never look like it was before but what we want to achieve is that these kids are able to live a normal life again.
Cesia is a really special person and I am sure you would like her if you would have the chance to get to know her. Besides her treatments in ANIQUEM, she needs a new prothesis to be able to walk again. Just enter the link at the end of the email to get to know more about this special case.
Thank you again so much for your support - thanks to you children like Cesia can receive their treatments here in ANIQUEM!
