Dear donors,
Thank you so much for your support to finance the rehabilitation of 7 burned children in Peru. This is just a little way we can say thank you! Without your help we couldn't have gotten to where we are now. In our center we receive a new burned kid every day, and until today we have been able to give integral rehabilitation to more than 4600 children from our whole country.
Today I would like to introduce a brave little boy you are supporting with your donations. His name is Deivi, he’s 5 years old and comes from a poor town in northern Peru.
In our country it is very common for families living in poverty to cook their food in an artisanal way: assembling a small fire with stones and firewood, on the ground. Deivi was only 3 years old when he didn't realize this; approached the wood-burning stove and pulled the hot pot of soup towards him, which caused severe burns on his face, chest, shoulders and arms.
The first thing his parents did was to pour cold water on the burns - that was very good - and then they took him immediately to the health center of his community, but unfortunately due to the severity of his burns, the doctors recommended his parents to take him to a hospital in Lima, our country’s capital.
Despite the difficult economic situation the family faces, his parents did everything in their power for him to continue the treatment. They arrived at ANIQUEM two days after the accident and he has not stopped receiving treatment for a single day. While mom and little Deivi come every three weeks to receive therapies, dad works very hard every day as a worker of any construction or farm to raise money.
If you would see everything that Deivi has improved in these years, you would be as amazed as I am right now. Your face now has a special and different brightness, as you can see in the photos I am attaching to this email. This little man has received many physical and occupational therapies, psychological treatment to overcome the trauma of the accident; facing all this with courage and the unstoppable support of their parents and our great staff.
I love seeing the before and after life of our patients. It makes me think that everything we do is paid just by seeing them happy and enjoying the life that every child deserves to have.
We are happy to witness how not only the face of our patients changes, but also their families recover their joy again. So we look forward to each check-up so they can tell us how they are doing.
The love that this little one feels for his mother is so great that we choose his photo for our greeting for Mother's Day in our social networks. On behalf of him, his mother and all our patients, I want to thank you again for your help and what that means for our organization.
Thank you again for all your support. We’re really blessed to count on you!!!
