Calcutta Rescue aims to open a new school for 350 children from the slums of North Calcutta. The current school is small, dark, and is located in the city's red-light district. The charity recently bought a house with 16 rooms, much more space and a courtyard where the children can play! But before the school can open, the building needs to be refurbished and equipped.
Most children living in the slums and streets of Calcutta do not have access to schools. Therefore, they have very little chances of escaping an illiterate and uneducated destiny, which will be the same for their families and their future children! Calcutta Rescue wants to break that cycle, change the sad realities of the children in the slums, and give hope.
Do More, Do Better ! This project will contribute to the transformation of an old building into a new school infrastructure. The objective is to be capable of proposing food assistance, medical care and education for 350 children living in the streets of Calcutta.
This project will serve the neediest and poorest children, provide a child-friendly environment for their future generations, allowing them to learn, to have access to the right medical care, to have a good nutrition, to receive an education and knowledge to rise out of poverty.
