Dear Friends,
MAITS held important meetings with our Master Trainers on the infant feeding training package to understand ways of disseminating this training during covid. The review of the programme identified the importance of delivering this training face to face. Since the training requires expert handling skills of a vulnerable new born, MAITS decided not to deliver any elements of the training online. However, this does not mean that we stop our support on infant feeding techniques.
We contacted our trained neonatal unit nurses in Rwanda and requested her feedback on how they have been using their skills aquired through MAITS training and explore ways to further expand our programme through local master trainers.
The feedback received from the trained nurses included on the job training of their peers on certain sections of the MAITS package. We are working with our local Master Trainers in Rwanda and the feeding experts in the UK to modify the training programme so that we can continue the delivery during travel restrictions.
Many thanks
MAITS Team
