A unique educational and cultural exchange has brought together students from Shkolla NEHEMIA (Albania) and Dobrica Eric School (Serbia) for an unforgettable cultural and educational experience.
Over the course of a week-long exchange, students explored the rich history, natural beauty, and vibrant community of Pogradec, Albania, all while fostering friendships and collaboration that transcend borders.
Exploring History and Culture
Throughout their stay, students delved into Pogradec’s historical and cultural landmarks, including the Basilica of Lin and the City’s Museum Quarter, where they gained insight into the area's deep-rooted heritage.
At Amaro Tan School, they engaged in hands-on learning sessions, strengthening their understanding of practical education and real-world applications.
A key highlight of the exchange was a meeting with Pogradec Municipality officials from the Tourism and Youth Sector, where students discussed youth opportunities, local development, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Sports, Teamwork, and Lasting Bonds
No exchange program is complete without a little friendly competition! Students took part in a thrilling volleyball match at the local gymnasium, reinforcing the importance of teamwork and collaboration.
Beyond structured activities, they enjoyed games, music, and traditional food, immersing themselves in Albanian hospitality while embracing the natural beauty of the parks and landscapes surrounding the city.
Looking Ahead: A Lasting Partnership
As this first phase of the exchange concludes, the connections made will continue to grow and strengthen. Next, students from Shkolla NEHEMIA will visit Knic, Serbia, deepening their cultural exchange and partnership.
An exchange between Albania and Serbia is culturally impactful, as it helps bridge historical divisions, foster mutual understanding, and promote regional cooperation. Given the complex past between the two nations, initiatives like this exchange program provide young people with the opportunity to engage in direct, positive interactions, break down stereotypes, and build lasting friendships.
By exploring each other’s traditions, history, and daily life, students develop empathy, cultural awareness, and a shared vision for the future, contributing to a more connected and peaceful Balkan region.
