Thanks to your permanent support to the ESCALA program, we have been able to make wonderful transformations and improve the conditions of nearly 2,700 students in rural areas of Colombia to finish their schooling process.
Since we started in 2019, we have addressed different issues with the purpose of keeping children, their parents and teachers motivated to work for their education.
In 2023 we have the goal of reaching more schools, students and teachers throughout the rural areas of Colombia and we hope we can continue to have your support.
In this opportunity we want to tell you about the project we implemented in the school Nuestra Señora de Fátima located in Buga, in the southwest of Colombia, thanks to the alliance with the Telefonica Foundation we achieved the transfer of the methodology "Piensa en Grande" (Think Big).
Through this methodology we worked on the lack of motivation to study, which was the main problem associated with school dropout that we found in this school. To counteract this phenomenon, we worked with students and teachers to develop skills and competencies for life and digital culture, to create, innovate and positively transform their environment by taking advantage of the opportunities it offers and the possibilities of relating with others.
In this process, we support the educational community with the development of a productive macro-project that allows them to generate income, motivates them to go to school and leads them to learn new skills.
With the invaluable commitment of the entrepreneurship teacher, the students from grades 8 to 11 worked on different agricultural crops and, thanks to their generous donations, it was possible to support them with a packing machine, a fruit pulper, a freezer, an electronic scale, utensils and raw materials necessary to process the fruit produced by the institution, to technify the processes and achieve the processing of jams and other foods.

"Since 2019 we had the opportunity to advance in this process supported by the Barco Foundation, whose main objective is to prevent school dropout and promote the permanence of all children in the rural area from their initial education to grade 11. It was an arduous process, a continuous work with leaders of the foundation as well as with teachers and students who responded to this call, so that we could have some equipment and make the whole process, as an agricultural educational institution that we are, in all this work of transforming food that is produced in our environment and thus guarantee them an economic income and significant learning.
This is important because within all these processes of entrepreneurship, if you do not have the necessary resources and equipment, then it is not possible to take advantage of all the fruits and vegetables produced in the field and, moreover, to guarantee them that this field is profitable and that they can meet their living needs, both in their family and in the community in general and make a synergy of work for all".

Gracias a su apoyo permanente al programa ESCALA, podemos realizar transformaciones maravillosas y mejorar las condiciones de cerca de 2,700 estudiantes de zonas rurales de Colombia para que terminen su proceso escolar.
Desde que empezamos en el 2019, hemos abordado diferentes problemáticas con el firme propósito de que los niños, sus padres y profesores se mantengan motivados para trabajar por su educación.
Para el 2023 tenemos la meta de llegar a más colegios, estudiantes y docentes en las zonas rurales de Colombia, donde esperamos seguir contando con su apoyo.
En esta oportunidad les queremos contar sobre el proyecto que implementamos en el colegio Nuestra Señora de Fátima ubicado en Buga, al sur occidente de Colombia, en el que gracias a la alianza con la Fundación Telefónica logramos la transferencia de la metodología “Piensa en Grande”.
Con el compromiso invaluable del profesor de emprendimiento, los estudiantes de los grados de 8º a 11º trabajaron en diferentes cultivos agrícolas y, gracias a sus generosas donaciones, fue posible apoyarlos con una empacadora, una despulpadora de fruta, un congelador, una balanza electrónica, utensilios y la materia prima necesaria para aprovechar la fruta que produce la institución, y así tecnificaron los procesos y lograr el procesamiento de mermeladas y otros alimentos.

“Desde el 2019 tuvimos la oportunidad de avanzar en este proceso apoyados por la Fundación Barco, cuyo objetivo principal es evitar la deserción escolar y promover la permanencia de todos los niños de la zona rural desde su educación inicial hasta grado 11. Se dio un proceso arduo, un trabajo continuo tanto con líderes de la fundación como también con los docentes y estudiantes que respondieron a este llamado para nosotros poder tener unos equipos y hacer todo ese proceso como institución educativa agropecuaria que somos, y en todo ese trabajo de la transformación de alimentos que se producen en nuestro entorno y así garantizarles a ellos unas entradas económicas y aprendizajes significativos.
Esto es importante porque dentro de todos estos procesos de emprendimiento, si uno no tiene los recursos y los equipos necesarios, pues no puede aprovechar todo lo que produce el campo y, es más, para garantizarles a ellos que ese campo es rentable y que puedan suplir sus necesidades de vida, tanto en su familia como en la comunidad en general y hacer toda una sinergia de trabajo para todos”
