Improving the rural education in Colombia

Your generous donations and your continuous support to our program ESCALA, allow us to keep working for young students in 22 rural schools in Colombia.

Our program prioritized issues in each school, to prevent drop out and to make it a better place for the students, also it has given to this rural communities a positive attitude towards education.

One of the actions we carried out in the past months, was to improve the infrastructure in the educational institution of Integrado Obando at Guachené, Cauca. It was deteriorated, causing a bad experience in their learning process.

The bathrooms were remodeled, the dining room was adapted, the septic tank, the water tank and the sewage system were built, improving the quality of life of the students, and motivating them to take care and maintain their learning spaces. Parallel to this process, we have worked with teachers, parents, and students to acquire self-care skills and a sense of belonging with their educational institution.

Sus generosas donaciones y su continuo apoyo a nuestro programa ESCALA nos permiten seguir trabajando por los jóvenes estudiantes en 22 escuelas rurales de Colombia.

Nuestro programa priorizó temas en cada institución educativa para prevenir la deserción y convertirla en un mejor lugar para los estudiantes; esto generó en las comunidades una mejor valoración de la educación de sus niños, niñas y jóvenes.

Dentro de las principales acciones que realizamos en los últimos meses, fue mejorar la infraestructura en la Institución Educativa Integrado Obando en Guachené, Cauca. Estaba muy deteriorada, no contaban con servicio adecuado de agua y repercutía negativamente en los estudiantes, teniendo una mala experiencia en su proceso de aprendizaje.

Se remodelaron los baños, se adecuó el comedor, se construyó la fosa séptica, el tanque de agua y el alcantarillado, mejorando la calidad de vida de los estudiantes, y motivándolos a cuidar y mantener sus espacios de aprendizaje. Paralelamente a este proceso, se trabajó con docentes, padres de familia y estudiantes, para adquirir habilidades de autocuidado y sentido de pertenencia hacia su institución educativa.

“El entorno educativo que tenían nuestros estudiantes de esta institución no eran agradables, esa era una gran preocupación que tenían tanto los docentes, los padres de familia y los estudiantes y llegar con un proyecto como este, desde ya va a servir mucho nos va a permitir tener unos entornos educativos mucho más agradables y sobre todo en el tema de su salud, y aunque estamos viviendo situaciones de la pandemia, va a ser muy importante que se pudieron mejorar las baterías sanitarias y el restaurante escolar y muchas otras cosas que se hicieron fundamentales para que estos estudiantes puedan tener un aprendizaje mucho más óptimo porque tienen unos mejores entornos educativos”
