OPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN MAPPING
Due to the poverty level of the pupils in the schools that WE REACH has been supporting in the WASH project, the organization saw the need to start the program of the orphans and vulnerable children in the five schools that are in the rural area. WE REACH had already engaged the school administration led by the head teacher and the local chief in the area to conduct a research and come up with four pupils who are most vulnerable 2 boys and 2 girls.
The organization will support the orphans and vulnerable children/learns with learning materials that is books, pens, uniforms, bags, shoes among other learning basic needs. Caregivers of the children will be trained on basic skills of starting a small business and also on kitchen garden. The purpose of the garden is to provide food to the family and when the harvest is in surplus they can sell and buy other family needs. Most of these orphans cannot afford three meals in a day, breakfast is missed frequently. Breakfast is very vital when it comes to a child development and concentration in class. WE REACH hope to address that issue through training and sensitization of the caregivers on proper nutrition and development of children.
The schools administration were very much grateful to the organization for the noble act to support the orphans and vulnerable children in their schools. They said it will really help in a bigger way because those kids will have an easy time now to concentrate in class and to improve their performance in academics. Lastly they requested WE REACH if the can add the number of the orphans to support due to the large number of them in their schools.
