All-Lights Village Fisherfolks Association Passed

By Joy Remigio | Project Leader

The Local Government Unit of Palompon created a Fishery Law Enforcement Team in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture BFAR (Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources) Region 8. A 3-day Training Seminar on Fishery Law Enforcement Team (FLET) was conducted after capacitating the coastal barangay captains and Fisherfolks association representatives on November 23-25, 2022 held at the Municipal Gymnasium of Palompon. The objective of the training seminar is to train the law enforcement team composed of the BFAR Fishery Law Enforcement Officers, Coastal Barangay leaders and Fisherfolks Associations representatives to enhance their capability as law enforcers in the conduct of Monitoring Control and Surveillance. The training provided more actual and experiential education to further develop, produce and augment BFAR personnel's technical expert in identifying fish suspected caught through explosives.

On behalf of the Municipal Mayor, the event was officially welcomed by the Vice Mayor. Some local officials were present to grace the occasion.  It was participated by Bantay Dagat Personnel, Brgy. Captains of Coastal Areas concerned, Sea Born Patrollers Assign and representatives of Fisherfolks Associations. Buenavista All-Lights Village Fisherfolks Association’s President participated to the above-mentioned training. After the seminar, they were grouped and given experience how to apply their learnings with the guidance of BFAR experts. The president was empowered to do his role and responsibility and he was very determined to cascade the learning to his fellow officers and ultimately to the Association members. The training was concluded successfully and the preparedness of the team was strengthened.
