Thank you so much

Thank you for enabling us get this far.

In march last year, we wanted to join global giving and our target was to raise $5,000 from 40 unique donors. You could not have any of that, you instead gave over $40,000 and enabled us to achieve a lot more than we could have ever done. Because of your great generosity:

  • We have empowered, equiped  and engaged with over 6,000 teachers, and reached over 1 million children in 1,000 schools across the country, becoming a key partner to the government in promoting literacy.
  • Through the Spelling Bee program, a 12 year old boy's life was dramatically transformed when he travelled to the African Spelling Bee to represent Uganda and won, earning himself a university scholarship in one of the top 100 Universities in the world.
  • Our teacher training program has enabled teachers like Gusita to go further and dive into his career turning it into a vocation. He now supports our team going around the country to train other teachers on how best they can teach reading.
  • Through the year, we also launched into publishing beautifully illustrated and culturally relevant children's books, to get children to fall in love with books and read, like the two boys who could not read but enjoyed one of the books we have published, by looking at the illustrations and telling themselves stories from what they thought was going on.

All this has happened because of your generous contributions and donations. Thank you. This has started us on this journey to create a change and we know that we still have a long way to go and we invite you on this journey.

As we went around doing all this, our attention was drawn to the fact that 7 of every 10 children in primary school can not read. Our desire is to get every child to at least own and read a book. We have therefore launched a campaign to get 10 million books to 10 kids around Uganda in the next 5 years. We invite you to join us on this journey as well.

Thank you again.
