Ever since Hurricane Sandy hit the United States and the Caribbean islands, GlobalGiving and its partner organizations have been hard at work providing relief for the victims of the storm. We have not, however, been doing it alone. Donors like you have been an integral part of our efforts, providing the funding necessary to keep the relief and rebuilding efforts going. So, THANK YOU, for all your amazing support. YOUR generosity has provided relief in the form of food and shelter to thousands of families in their time of greatest need. Here is an update on the projects that your donations have made possible.
In the aftermath of the storm, Baby Buggy played a crucial role in relief efforts by providing food and clothing, as well as reassuring members of their community that they were not alone. After years of rebuilding their classrooms, they were able to restart their Early Head Start programs. They also provided backpacks, school supplies and school clothing for the students so that the kids can go back to school!
Global Links has been working hard to rebuild the hospitals and medical centers that Hurricane Sandy destroyed in Cuba. Global Links responded to the destruction by sending large shipments of health worker protective gear and key medical supplies so that the doctors could continue their hospital services. They have also provided new beds and mattresses to replace those damaged by the storm in order to reduce the risk of infection and give patients more appropriate surfaces on which to heal.
We would like you to know that we are are closing this fund. Your donations have helped keep people healthy, rebuild communities, and send children back to school. Thank you so much for your generous donations which have helped the recovery effort after Hurricane Sandy!

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
