Mercy Corps' Positive Youth Engagement program helps kids in Gaza cope with ongoing conflict. We've reached 2,500 children and 500 parents through safe spaces, fun activities, and emotional support. Kids learn to handle stress, make friends, and solve problems. Despite challenges like safety issues and limited resources, we're committed to bringing hope to Gaza's youth. Your support can help Mercy Corps reach families in Gaza and around the world.
Since October 2023, people in Gaza have been living through a devastating crisis. A drastic decline in access to food, clean water, electricity, and medical care is made worse by restrictions on humanitarian aid. The widespread destruction have left many people in a dire situation, struggling to meet their basic needs. Young people and children are spending their days searching for food, water, and shelter in place of the routine of attending school.
War-affected children in Gaza often struggle to maintain mental wellbeing, sometimes developing unhealthy coping mechanisms. Despite evacuation notices and bombardments, our team resumed the Positive Youth Engagement program in April. Through sports and hands-on activities, we help young people develop crucial skills like collaboration and problem-solving. This support enhances their ability to navigate challenges, build relationships, and cope with the emotional stress of conflict.
Mercy Corps has worked in Palestine for nearly four decades, providing access to clean water, economic opportunities and livelihood support. Mercy Corps is working with multiple partners to help families in Gaza, and 40+ countries to alleviate suffering, poverty, and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities.
