The children’s eye treatment initiative in Gaza is now underway. The 42 children now undergoing treatment in this program are young kidney patients – many of them undergoing dialysis -- who have vision problems as well. These children receive free eye exams, glasses and treatment.
The donation funds will be sent directly to a firm in Nablus that installs the eye exam equipment and provides glasses and treatments.
There are another 120 children who could use this medical assistance, and any additional donations to help them would be welcome.
A team of doctors, together with another delivery of drugs and equipment, is set to leave for Gaza on Aug. 28. Dr. Raid Haj Yehia, who volunteers his time in Gaza and organizes the humanitarian aid project is currently assessing future equipment need for Gaza hospitals.
