We're pleased to share the latest update on our ongoing efforts to foster coexistence between humans and Asian elephants for Earth Day! Your continued support has enabled us to make significant progress towards creating a harmonious relationship between communities and these majestic animals.
In 2023, our project sites in Thailand and Sri Lanka were hit by the most severe droughts in decades, causing widespread agricultural damage. Thailand continues to suffer from drought, while Sri Lanka experienced extreme wet weather earlier this year! Although the elephants may have enjoyed the heavy rain, it led to fields flooding, landslides, and roads being washed away, presenting challenges for our field researchers and local farming community!
