Thanks to your donations we are very close to completing this project! We have also been fundraising locally, and we need just another €2100 to reach our final target.
Since she was a toddler Anastasia has been hospitalized for long periods because of cystic fibrosis, missing school, her family and friends. She is now 13 years old and has told us that a good reason to make a playground in paediatrics is for the children to go out to play after a difficult examination and to forget that they are in a hospital and to forget their pains.
Crete’s university hospital caters for thousands children every year, many suffering from chronic and critical illnesses and disabilities. Some of the therapies and visits can make the children very apprehensive and stressed, the head nurse of the paediatric department has explained, and the completed playground visible from the clinic, will help shift their focus and assist in their recovery.
At present we are gathering the final estimates for the completion of the playground, the volunteers have almost completed the colourful mosaic, we have finalized all the necessary paperwork and we are ready to go. Even during such difficult times, you are choosing to support these children through our project, and we are truly grateful to you. Just a bit more and we are there!
