Before Shariffa joined Imani Collective, she faced many challenges in life. At 19 years old, she found herself as a mother of three, living in a small single room with her husband, who worked odd jobs to barely make ends meet. Every day was a battle to put food on the table and ensure her children could attend school.
Shariffa decided she needed to change their circumstances. Despite not having any weaving experience, she mustered the courage to seek employment. That decision led her to Imani Collective, where she embarked on a three-month training program in the weaving department. Throughout her journey, Esther, the lead weaver, served as her mentor and guide.
With her newfound skills and steady income, Shariffa transformed her family's life. They upgraded from a single room to a comfortable two-bedroom house, and her children now enjoy stability and happiness in school. Shariffa's success story at Imani Collective is just the beginning. With a bright future ahead, she harbors ambitious plans for herself and her family, fueled by the hope and opportunities provided by her career.
