High School Scholarship for Students Report

By Robert Wawire | Director

Background

Action for Child Development Trust (ACDT) is committed to supporting needy students in Western Kenya and beyond by providing scholarships for secondary, tertiary, and university education. The organization aims to bridge the financial gap that prevents many bright but disadvantaged students from accessing quality education.

2024 Achievements

In 2024, ACDT, in partnership with Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) and Silicon Valley, successfully supported 10 needy students in secondary school. This initiative provided financial relief to struggling families and ensured continued education for these students.

2025 Scholarship Program

This year, ACDT, in collaboration with Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF), has secured 14 scholarships for students joining tertiary colleges and universities. However, the demand for scholarships remains significantly high, with over 200 students applying for financial aid at the tertiary and university levels.

Funding and Partnership Request

To expand this initiative and reach more deserving students, ACDT is actively seeking additional funding and partnerships. Increased financial support will allow the organization to:

  •  Provide more scholarships for secondary, tertiary, and university students.
  •  Cover essential educational expenses such as tuition, accommodation, and learning materials.
  •  Establish a sustainable scholarship fund to support future beneficiaries.

Recommendations

  1.  Expand Partnership Networks – Collaborate with corporate organizations, government agencies, and international donors to increase funding.
  2.  Community Engagement & Fundraising – Organize local fundraising initiatives to mobilize support from well-wishers, alumni, and community members.
  3.  Establish a Scholarship Endowment Fund – Create a long-term fund to ensure sustainability and continuity of the scholarship program.
  4.  Enhance Visibility – Leverage social media, media campaigns, and outreach programs to attract more donors and partners.
  5.  Strengthen Beneficiary Monitoring – Implement a mentorship program to track the academic progress and career development of scholarship recipients.

Conclusion

The need for scholarships continues to grow, and ACDT is committed to ensuring that bright but needy students are not left behind. With additional funding and partnerships, we can make a lasting impact by enabling more students to achieve their academic and career aspirations.

We appreciate your consideration and look forward to collaborating with new partners to make education accessible to all.
