Helping Single Thai Mothers Keep Their Babies

In 2024, HOS played a significant role in preventing at least four families from fracturing or placing their children in children’s homes. “Bonnie’s” single father, who struggles with alcoholism, left her at a local temple to be cared for on a long-term basis by the monks there. When her aunt, who is one of HOS’s nursery staff, learned about this, she went to the temple to pick Bonnie (age 8) up that very same day. Bonnie has been living with her aunt and uncle and their two children, ages 11 and 16, since then. She is thriving in this loving family environment; we have seen her gain confidence in her interactions at school and with trusted adults.
“Mateo” (4 years old), “Amanda” (12), and “Nathaniel” (14), also endured significant struggles within their three families, causing each of their caregivers to seriously consider placing them in children’s homes. Our staff walked alongside these families and helped them understand the importance of these precious children remaining in the care of their biological parents or grandparents. By God’s grace, all three are still living at home.
