The team at Because ALL Children Matter have been working on the ground in Kenya to help girls who lack access to essential sanitary products. We have now purchased and delivered reusable sanitary pads to over 500 girls in various vulnerable groups including girls in special needs schools, girls living on the streets of Nairobi, and girls living in rural areas, such as Maasai Land where it is difficult for girls to attain basic menstrual sanitation.
These reusable sanitary pads are quality and handmade, and they will last the girls 5 years. To follow up, we have revisited some of the girls that live on the streets of Nairobi, to see whether the girls are using the pads and looking after them correctly, and to evaluate the girls overall satisfaction with the pads. The feedback we received shows that these girls are happy with the pads, and are able to use them successfully. Our next goal is to carry on with the feedback process across all of our groups, so that we can receive a more detailed response evaluation.
