24 women from La Pintana are certified in Construction with the support of Fundación Emplea.
It has been demonstrated that we can do anything, even in a sector as masculinized as construction. However, these 24 women from La Pintana overcame the challenge of learning about Initial Warehousing Techniques, the IConstruye computer program and soon... they will be working in this field!
"This training will open up a field of work for me, far from what I ever thought I would have to dedicate myself to, such as jobs related to women, for example, hairdressing or cooking. Women are empowering ourselves in construction and we are opting for "men's" jobs because we know that we can even do it better," commented Susana, a participant in this course.
Nattally adds to her words, since "we are always at home, dedicated to the children or your partner. Now, there are few opportunities like this one, which allows us to gain experience and get out of our comfort zone, demonstrating that we do not have to be where we are told we should be".
This initiative was born with the objective of inserting women - on this occasion from La Pintana - in this field historically related to men, but from the Chilean Chamber of Construction, IConstruye, the Technological School of Construction and Fundación Emplea, we are committed to reduce this gender gap.
The Municipality of La Pintana took part in this project and its mayor, Claudia, did not want to miss this certification ceremony. "I congratulate them on their achievement today, but now they also have the challenge of demonstrating that the women of La Pintana are not only responsible and hardworking, but also capable of breaking the mold. They show that as neighbors they do not need welfare, they need real opportunities that open the way to the changes they are looking for", closed the communal authority.
As Fundación Emplea we play a role of accompaniment within the training process that they have already completed, to which we add the next step in the lives of our participants: entering the labor market, a path in which we will continue to accompany them until they feel comfortable in their new job.
Jorge Gaju, Executive Director of Fundación Emplea, highlighted at the certification ceremony the work of those who promoted this opportunity, but even more so he recognized all those who complete this process. "They gave it their all, they put a lot of enthusiasm and effort into it. Today they are the best example that these collaborations work, so we celebrate that we have 24 women who are willing to start a new stage in this area. Our commitment is to continue promoting these instances, because we are sure that the results with you -and all those to come- will be excellent", he concluded.
