Shariatpur are one of the most vulnerable area of Bangladesh for COVID-19 outbreak since there are 3972 migrants who have come from EU area in our area. So, it is fading. Our area is the first lock down area of Bangladesh. 6 affected people have died. All activities & production have full shut-down. Distress women & people with disabilities have been getting worse situation & they have been facing food insecurity. We are providing at least 1000 family with food and sanitizers to prevent crisis.
Spreading the COVID-19 pandemic in our area has already affected by the poor people, distress women & PWD's increased their poverty. SODEP is adapting its response to the crisis. Economic activities & production have full shut-down. Distress women and PWD's have been getting worse situation and have been facing food insecurity and health services. The fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic is having profound impact on society and the economy, and it will also influence and shape organized local crime.
SODEP and other NGO's and Local Administration have been trying to solve the problems like: health services and necessary food assistance for needy people. But this initiatives are not sufficient. We have committed to provide food, health sanitizers and other basic needs to vulnerable families. We are also operating a helpline for those service seekers, it's an additional support which includes access to connectivity with health services providers government hospital and clinics.
1000 poor and distress families in our project area will be mitigated their food and health problems. It will remove local crime and illicit market. Not only that this intervention will contribute to UN Sustainable Development goals (SDG's) goal-2: "Zero Hunger". 1000 vulnerable families are trying to safe from COVID-19 outbreak. All children of these families will enjoy their rights of food and nutrition.
