Dear Donors and Supporters,
It is with great joy that we share this report on the successful implementation of the 2023 Múcura Wetlands Award. This annual initiative aims to promote environmental education and wetland conservation awareness among children in rural communities near Lake Tota, Colombia. The 2023 edition would not have been possible without the tremendous generosity and support from donors, volunteers, and partner organizations.
Award Prizes
Three main prizes were awarded to participating children:
1st Place Prize: Vortex Vanquish 8x26 Binoculars
Donated by Vortex Optics Colombia, these binoculars will allow the winning child to explore the biodiversity of local wetlands up close.
2nd Place Prize: "El Muyso - Wetlands Adventure" Board Game
Funded by GlobalGiving donors, family contributions, the Montecito Foundation, and designed pro-bono by two volunteer Irish graphic designers. Manufactured locally.
3rd Place Prize: Assorted products from Totto
Generously contributed by the Totto company.
Celebration at El Muyso Festival
The award ceremony took place on December 1st, 2023 at the Xieti Nature Reserve as part of the El Muyso Festival. This joyous celebration was made possible by:

Thanks to our donors, volunteers, and partners, the 2023 Múcura Award offered local children an enriching experience celebrating wetlands through educational games, outdoor activities, and recognition of their efforts.
