The Secret to Happiness Is Helping Others

By Olya | Project Leader

The COVID-19 pandemic that has spread rapidly and extensively around the world since late 2019 has had profound implications for food security and nutrition.Already, before the outbreak of the pandemic, according to the latest State of Food Security and Nutrition report, some two billion people faced food insecurity at the moderate or severe level. Today, I will share with you the story of Eleonora, one of those two billion people, who cannot afford food for them and their families.

Eleonora is a mother of four. The youngest child, Stilyan, is only 3 months old. Eleonora and her husband are from a very small village in the Northern part of the country. The man is working in adairy farmwithout an employment contract, receiving a minimum salary, Eleonora is at home taking care of their four kids. Without being good in math, we can easily do the calculation and see that such a small amount of money couldn’t be enough for a family of 6.

Unfortunately, her story is rather common then exception. And the worst part is that this story doesn’t get any better. Because of the poor conditions the family is living in, the baby gets COVID-19 and is currently in the hospital. To help, Eleonora, we sent her, packs of infant formula that will be enough for a month, together with a lot of hygiene products and diapers.

This story shows the importance of implementing projects like this one that can react in such urgent situations. Because in the short term, poor nutrition can contribute to stress and tiredness, but over time, it can lead to some serious health problems.

Eleonora, her son and the many others like them need your support, so please don’t let them down. We know there are so many good charities that will seek your help and you should know how honored we are when you choose to make a gift to our cause.

Thank you!

Olya
